About This Role

Summary of the role

The Senior Risk Consultant role applies effective risk management to identify, assess, and manage risks arising from client‑specific and shared service activities. Working closely with the Risk Manager, the role provides risk and control oversight, partners with business and client risk teams, and promotes the risk framework to strengthen ownership, challenge weaknesses, and share best practice.

This role sits within the Enterprise Risk team (Line 2) and focuses on specialist risk disciplines including data risk, financial risk and strategic risk. The role supports the achievement of strategic and financial objectives by mitigating regulatory, customer, financial, and reputational risk, while enabling growth opportunities. It delivers assurance activities in line with the annual risk plan and, where required, supports senior leaders and the Risk & Governance Director on specific projects.

What you’ll be doing
  • Provide subject matter expertise and challenge across data, financial and strategic risk areas.
  • Support the Risk Manager in functional engagement (internal and external) from a Line 2 risk perspective to ensure the risk management policy is properly embedded and reported.
  • Ensure risk appetite and tolerance are appropriately monitored (both Diligenta risk appetite and within the client arrangements), and risks and controls are properly understood, evaluated and managed.
  • Challenge the risk reporting from Line 1 via Top Down and Bottom-Up risk reporting, including understanding control effectiveness and supporting change.
  • Ensure outputs from control monitoring/testing, incident management, complaints management, root cause analysis, emerging risk reporting and risk appetite reporting are properly reflected in risk assessments and risk reporting mechanisms.
  • Evidence to demonstrate the effective implementation, maintenance and delivery of the Diligenta Risk Management Framework (such as evidencing clear accountability for risk management, confirmation as to the level of compliance to the risk management framework, examples of support provided in risk identification and escalation etc.).
  • Facilitation and challenge to the business to help them understand, manage and report risks and controls.
  • Effective use of Decision Focus to meet user needs and reporting / archive requirements.
  • Deliver assurance testing and reporting as requested.
  • Support provided where requested on due diligence exercises.
  • Document risk assessments and control assurance reports to a high standard with minimal revisions.
What we’re looking for
  • Experience in one or more enterprise risk areas (e.g. data risk, financial risk or strategic risk)
  • Professional, academic or skills-based qualification that has some relevance to the role profile.
  • At least 5 years Financial Services/Insurance Industry experience.
  • Experience in a risk or control-based activity.
  • Organised self-starter.
  • Good stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Reporting writing skills.
  • Ability to understand the complex and communicate that concisely and simply.
  • Knowledgeable in best practice enterprise risk management processes and frameworks.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
