About This Role

Summary of the role

The purpose of this role is to support the Senior Risk Manager in providing risk and control oversight support to the management of risks within the relevant client. This role focuses on client relationships and the risks arising within that client arrangement. This could arise from any risk type, especially customer, and could be driven by the client specific operations undertaken by Diligenta or from shared service activities that support the account. The shared service type risks may be raised from the client management teams or from the Corporate Risk team. The role should look to utilise the Corporate Risk Management team to support and understand the risks being managed through the shared service functions on behalf of their client.

The role holder will need to work with key Diligenta individuals that support the client and with the risk management teams within the client.

This role will not have any direct people management but will work with and utilise the senior risk consultants / consultants to deliver their objectives, especially in relation to assurance, reporting and change engagement.

The role holder will be required to attend relevant client led governance committees as agreed with the Senior Risk Manager, ensuring Diligenta and our customer interests are appropriately considered and risks are openly reported. In all client interactions the other Line 2 teams (Compliance, AFC, DPO) must be seen as operating as one team.

Where there is change or transformation arising for their client, this role holder will be expected to engage the project team to ensure governance arrangements are effective, that change related risks are openly and timely reported and that the control environment is effectively sustained or enhanced.

In providing leadership on the management of corporate risks, the role holder will support the business in achieving its strategic and financial objectives helping to maximise opportunities for growth and avoiding negative customer, financial, regulatory or reputational impacts.

This role can be based in any of the Diligenta locations.

What you will be doing

  • Support the Senior Risk Manager in client engagement (internal and external) from a Line 2 risk perspective to ensure the risk management policy is properly embedded and reported.
  • Ensure risk appetite and tolerance are appropriately monitored within the client arrangements, with consideration of Diligenta and the clients appetite.
  • Ensure risks and controls are properly understood, evaluated and managed.
  • Challenge the risk reporting from Line 1 via Top Down and Bottom Up risk reporting, including understanding control effectiveness and supporting change.
  • Ensure outputs from control monitoring/testing, incident management, complaints management, root cause analysis, emerging risk reporting and risk appetite reporting are properly reflected in risk assessments and risk reporting mechanisms.
  • Support Corporate Risk Team by sharing relevant risk insights via client based reporting and vice versa.
  • Evidence to demonstrate the effective implementation, maintenance and delivery of the Diligenta Risk Management Framework (such as evidencing clear accountability for risk management, confirmation as to the level of compliance to the risk management framework, examples of support provided in risk identification and escalation etc.).
  • Meeting Client SLA's and effective relationship management where required (such as issue resolution) .
  • Facilitation and challenge to the business to help them understand, manage and report risks and controls.
  • Effective use of DORAS to meet user needs and reporting / archive requirements.
  • Effective Risk MI is delivered on time and accurately to all key stakeholders.
  • Effective engagement in change being undertaken within the client to ensure risks are being appropriately managed and controls remain effective through the lifecycle of change.
  • Support provided where requested on due diligence exercises.
  • Deliver the required client reports to a high standard and with minimal editing by the Senior Risk Manager.
  • Delivery of formal training sessions where required.

What we are looking for

  • At least 5 years Insurance Industry Experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in a line 1, line 2 or line 3 roles
  • Leading small teams
  • Professional, academic or skills based qualification that has some relevance to the role profile

  • Organised self-starter

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Reporting writing skills

  • Ability to understand the complex and communicate that concisely and simply

  • Conversant with best practice enterprise risk management processes and frameworks.

  • Understanding of ICA capital requirements and the relevant regulatory guidance for their calculation

  • Strong technical knowledge of risk management software tools and their use.

  • Strong MS Access, Excel and reporting skills.
