Summary of the role

A senior leadership role responsible for Continuous Improvement of the service through the improvement of the customer experience and optimisation of cost to serve.
  
The role centralises Notifiable Events, Continuous Improvement, Operational Change and multiple Transformation projects or programme, with the focus being to reduce errors, cost leakage, failure demand and customer effort in equal measure. The management and delivery of multiple transformation projects that will deliver toward the vision of being right first time, every time. The operational transformation will have multiple work streams delivered seamlessly in operations, with corporate-wide strategic impact (benefits and risks) to time, cost and quality. The overall programme of projects will represent major change across the account, the implementation of the programme strategy will be critical to success. The role is also accountable for ensuring that change of all types from all sources is prioritised effectively and lands successfully within the organisation. Working closely with IT you will get the best possible service from all parts of our IT estate.
  
What you’ll be doing
  • Deliver a Continuous Improvement programme of regular ideation across the whole account team, benefit baselining, delivery of the improvement objectives and the tracking/realisation of the defined benefits
  • Responsibility for delivery of multiple transformation projects or a programme, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, to scope
  • Creates a seamless Operational Continuous improvement closed loop model that pulls input from notifiable events drivers, operational cost leakage, complaint drivers, failure demand and links in to reinforced controls and process or tooling improvements to remove these failure points
  • Creates and implements robust programme planning reporting and control processes.
  • Collate, prioritise and execute (in partnership with impacted business areas) upcoming change
  • Run a business readiness team that ensures for all types of change have the appropriate amount of readiness activity and land successfully
  • Integrate work-streams and manage cross-business interdependencies to ensure co-ordinated delivery
  • Identify financial and operating risks and issues affecting the programme and the business, putting appropriate measures in place to effectively manage and control
  • Manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders (client, business partners, regulators etc.) to ensure full integration of solutions
  • Overall responsibility for the development and agreement of budget and expenditure associated with major strategic operational transformation programmes of change, ensuring that costs are contained within agreed levels and that the benefits are realised
  • Lead, manage & motivate large, diverse teams and other resources and train such staff as may be assigned or seconded to work on the programme, including personal development and mentoring of colleagues at more junior levels
  • Can act as a mentor for both the business and the IT areas, identifying pragmatic solutions for business or programme issues. Is likely to be regarded as an expert by several areas of the business in terms of change delivery and solutions. Role model for project management discipline and key definer and driver of best practice

  • Previous experience with proven track record of delivery in Major Transformation Projects and Programmes. Has proven people management skills with a good understanding of the organisation’s management structures and reporting procedures.
  • Enjoys the confidence of senior management
  • 5 years Financial Services – FS Institution experience or similar Life & Pensions outsourcing, operations specific
  • Proven experience of project/programme management at a senior level in a complex business environment
  • Experience of managing multi-million pound initiatives with major business risks/benefits
  • Track record of successful business-wide programme delivery in any business context
  • Experience of influencing at Steering committee
