About This Role

Summary of the role

The Specialist Finance Services function is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and transactions within our Client’s organisation. The primary goal of this function is to process payments, receipts and distributions as well as identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in financial records. This is important for maintaining the reliability of financial information, facilitating proper financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  
This role is responsible for leading the highly complex and heavily regulated Mutual Funds Specialist Finance Services Team (approx. 15 people) which operates under the CASS rule-book which has specific intraday SLAs on all activities. It is formed of three distinct functions; Cash Management & Distributions (responsible for all cash and distribution processing), Regulated Reconciliations (responsible for all CASS Reconciliations, Client Money Funding, CMAR, CASS Resolution Pack) and CASS Controls & Oversight (responsible for CASS Change, Incident Management, Procedures & Training, MI & Governance, Financial and CASS Audit liaison). The Team supports two legal entities and oversees over 750 client money transactions a day all of which have to be reconciled daily (to the penny) to avoid breaching the CASS regulations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leadership and delivery accountability for the Mutual Funds Specialist Finance Services Team supporting two legal entities, with management of an onshore team of up to 30 FTE
  • Responsibility for ensuring all required Mutual Funds-related Specialist Finance Services activities are completed on a daily basis to the required standard
  • Company-wide subject-matter expert on Mutual Funds Finance processes, procedures and controls
  • Responsible for Line 1 compliance with the CASS Rulebook for the LBG Account ensuring all breaches and near misses are reported promptly, appropriate breach root cause analysis is completed and actions promptly taken to prevent future reoccurrence
  • Responsible for the approval of the monthly Client Money & Asset Return (CMAR), various Tax Returns and for ensuring the CASS Resolution Pack data remains materially up to date in compliance with CASS 10
  • Ownership of the Disaster Recovery Plan for Mutual Funds Specialist Finance Services and for ensuring all key-processes have a contingency plan in place should there be a loss of an individual system (BaNCS, Legacy or Banking System)
  • Effective Mutual Funds Finance Business Partner for the Client Finance Team, Client CASS Team, DG TA Operations, DG Finance Change and DG Compliance
  • Establishment of a suite of effective governance, controls and MI for the Mutual Funds Specialist Finance Services Team’s activities
  • Mentorship of others. Identifying and building on opportunities for continuous learning. Promotes knowledge sharing and is familiar with all internal knowledge repositories/sources
  • Preparation and leadership of meetings, facilitation of workshops and delivery of presentations for a wide range of audiences, demonstrating consistently high quality of communication and influencing powers
  • Active leader within the Specialist Finance Services Department and deputises for Senior Specialist Finance Services Manager as and when required
  • Specialist Finance Services Ambassador for Consumer Duty
What we’re looking for
  • Accounting qualifications, either part of fully qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • IOC qualification related to CAS
  • Experience of investment risk or operational control
  • An in-depth knowledge of client asset and money arrangement regulations and industry practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate at senior levels
  • Outstanding organisational skills, ability to plan workloads and delegate tasks
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Expert in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong knowledge of financial services (in particular Investments) processes and regulations
  • Strong understanding of Finance and Accounting principles, practices and compliance requirements for the UK and Ireland
  • 10+ years working within a finance role (or a finance-focussed change role) within a CASS-regulated Financial Services firm
