Summary of the role:

The Financial Control & Reconciliation Utility is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and transactions within our Client’s organisation. The primary goal of this function is to process payments, receipts and distributions as well as identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in financial records. This is important for maintaining the reliability of financial information, facilitating proper financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role is within the high profile Controls and Oversight Team which is responsible for Incident Management, Training, Procedures, Reporting, SLA Breach Oversight and Prevention, Audit Liaison and Change Liaison.

Please be aware this role can be based in any of the Diligenta locations.

What you'll be doing:
  • Subject-matter expert in Cash Management and Reconciliations processes within the Life and Pension business (Legacy & BaNCS), representing the area as and when required for Migrations (facing off to the FCCOE) or regulatory change initiatives.
  • Deliver any training required to the BAU Team (outside of any training delivered by the FCCOE as part of a Release Migration) and assess staff to ensure they are fully competent before processing live work.
  • Own the Life and Pension Operational Finance Team Procedures Log ensuring all processes are fully documented and procedures are reviewed and updated regularly (minimum annually or when a change to the process is made) and maintained in a central location.
  • Support the Controls and Oversight Manager in managing any incidents within Life and Pension Finance Operations or impacting Life and Pension Finance Operations. Liaise with the wider Team (if required) in identifying the root cause and delivering prompt and appropriate resolutions.
  • Design and produce effective and meaningful Management Information (MI) for the Life and Pension Finance Operations Team. Ensure all reports are delivered in line with the reporting deadlines, and proactively take the lead in identifying opportunities to further enhance this process to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Co-ordinate the gathering of information for Internal and External Auditors and track and manage any audit or review actions for the Life and Pension Finance Operations Team.
  • Conduct thematic deep dives, root-cause analysis and control reviews to help identify control weaknesses and process improvements and design and deliver any improvements identified.
  • Deliver small scale projects or defined tasks within larger projects to improve support to the business and to help deliver the company’s strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure all tasks and activities performed adhere to the Consumer Duty regulations.
What we're looking for:
  • Proven experience working within a finance role (or a finance-focussed change role) within Financial Services.
  • Accounting qualifications, either part of fully qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
  • Expert in MS Excel and Word.
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving, supported by strong interpersonal skills and confidence to select and apply relevant analytical and process engineering tools.
  • Ability to apply different techniques to resolve issues and analyse risk and impacts across a range of potential solutions.
  • Use clear and effective verbal, written and presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate at senior levels of the organization, to provide logical argument and to influence decision-makers.
  • Strong attention to detail, good fact finding skills and ability to make evaluative judgments based on both quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial requirements to non-finance trained colleagues.
  • Ability to self-manage, work effectively under pressure and manage to tight deadlines.
