Do I need to tell my current line manager I’m applying?

Yes, all internal applicants need to do this and confirm they have done so on the online application.

Do I need to provide a CV when applying for an internal vacancy?

You will be asked to provide a CV or similar document where you have one. If you need support with your CV please refer to the hints and tips guide.

When applying for the role, it doesn’t allow me to upload my CV and submit my application?

We’re working to resolve this issue but, in the meantime, please start the application process again without uploading a CV, this will now allow you to submit the application. Please also email your CV separately to the hiring manager and copy in your current manager.

How long do I need to be in my current role before applying?

Please refer to the Recruitment Policy for further details. Typically, you would need to have been in role for six months and have a satisfactory (3) performance rating. However, in exceptional circumstances your line manager may agree to you making an application.

How can I find out what the salary or benefits are for the vacancy advertised?

Please discuss this with the hiring manager. Salaries and changes to benefits for any promotion or change of role are governed by the terms of the Salary Changes and Promotions policy.

If successful when would my new role start?

Any agreed release date would initially need to be discussed between your manager and the hiring manager to mitigate any risk to service delivery. However, please refer to the Recruitment Policy for more details on typical timelines.

Will I be guaranteed an interview as an internal candidate?

No, all applicants would need to meet the relevant role criteria to be taken forward to the interview stage.

If I’m unsuccessful will the hiring manager give me feedback?

Yes, we ask hiring managers to give feedback to all applicants within any stage of the process.
