About This Role

Summary of the role

This SME role is responsible for supporting the development and owning the operational delivery of the corporate social responsibility arm of the company’s community & belonging programme, to ensure that Diligenta’s proposition is ‘best in class’ and embeds sustainability and charitable giving into our company culture/DNA, as well as providing up to date knowledge/expertise to provide pragmatic advice, business solutions and colleague educational & support initiatives. 

This role can be based in Peterborough or Bristol.

What you’ll be doing
  • Community & Belonging vision and strategy: Support the Head of D&I and CSR and Head of Sustainability in evolving both our Community & Belonging and Sustainability vision and strategy, ensuring that our overall offering is reflective of our business needs and results in an holistic Corporate Citizenship proposition that is aligned to external/competitor standards and in line with business requirements & affordability. Support the delivery of key community & belonging workstreams, embedding a network of advocates and programme-managing synergistic areas of work.    
  • Operational management and delivery/implementation and communication of our Community & Belonging programmes and associated initiatives, plus management of appropriate resource to achieve this (e.g. external providers) and regular liaison with internal compliance functions 
  • Develop and deliver a programme of Community & Belonging activity and intervention with the support of our Community & Belonging Co-ordinator, and alongside another C&B Manager to drive systemic change and impact across the business – encompassing strategic areas of priority and providing a holistic approach.
  • Stakeholder management: Build strong internal partnerships to source appropriate insights and optimise their support/contribution to the successful delivery of our Community & Belonging proposition. Develop strong external partnerships with external charities and partners such as Business in the Community to optimise leverage/maximise ROI re their Community & Belonging offerings & resources.
  • Proactively advise on any ‘gaps’ in our Corporate Citizenship programme, particularly in relation to the external landscape, and make the necessary business case proposals.
  • Gain external endorsement/recognition for our Community & Belonging programme, via external industry awards, including making of annual award submissions where appropriate.
  • Budget management: manage the Charitable Giving budget as required.
  • Proactively exploit all available communication/promotional opportunities to ensure the highest awareness of our Community & Belonging proposition, to help embed corporate citizenship into our everyday culture.   
  • Community & Belonging Dashboard: Alongside our Data Manager, utilise and exploit all available MI and other information (eg employee engagement survey results) to demonstrate the effectiveness/take-up of our resources/tools/initiatives in order to demonstrate ROI as well as to inform and deliver enhancements to evolve/improve our existing proposition and develop evidence-based interventions.
  • Lead the development and delivery of our Corporate Citizenship Network: participate in/chair any external/internal networks required in support of succeeding in this role, combining our Charity Ambassadors, ERG leads and having oversight of our Employee Resource Groups and the strategic support they may require from the wider team
  • Legislative requirements: ensure we meet any associated statutory requirements in relation to this  remit, and be aware of external pressures. Understand our risk appetite and consistently work to embed our risk culture.
  • Provide necessary Community & Belonging expertise/support in any wider business projects e.g. new business/TUPE onboarding. 
What we’re looking for
  • Technical – Microsoft Office – at least intermediate in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Numerate & confident in interpreting/manipulating data to extract trends and translate into a meaningful ‘story’ for stakeholders and business case support.
  • Polished communicator – written & verbal, at all levels
  • Proven ability to establish personal credibility quickly and build trust with colleagues at all levels

  • Good understanding of risk identification and management
  • Knowledge of corporate social responsibility initiatives, and understanding of how it fits into a wider Sustainability agenda
  • Event planning and delivery experience
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing CSR thinking, policies, systems and tools in a complex environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve a common goal
  • Demonstrable track record in implementing new interventions and gaining executive ‘buy in’
  • Track record in providing engaging communications and promotional activity
  • High degree of professionalism/discretion
