Summary of the role
Design, implement and support technical data and application based solutions by using requirements from project teams or the Application Support team within the Technical Centre.
What you'll be doing
- Work with Projects Managers and Customers/Clients to identify and document requirements for tactical solutions to projects and business improvements.
- Work with Projects Managers and Customers/Clients to identify Data Extract requirements for necessary analytical work.
- Take responsibility for recommended solution to ensure it meets requirements.
- Identifies potential risks, dependencies and potential security issues with the recommended solution.
- Arranges, prepares and leads meetings and presentations for a wide variety of audiences, demonstrating consistently high qualities of communication and persuasive skills.
- Consults with IT in areas relating to our solutions regarding data management, communications and service delivery.
- Work alone on moderately complex systems/data extract requests or with colleagues on more complex applications or extracts.
- Build new small applications or complex extracts using methodical, consistent and re-useable coding techniques.
- Applies available standards, methods and tools in an intelligent and effective way and produces a consistently high standard of documentation of both a technical and a descriptive nature.
- Constructs and execute application test plans to verify correct operation of completed systems and assists customers / users in defining acceptance tests.
What we're looking for
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent proven business experience or qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Technically experienced with ability to apply in-depth specialist skills, including SQL Server, PLSQL, MS Access, VBA and best practice to help define standards around which others will operate.
